Fast Start Training

Adult Training Home | Fast Start | Basic Leader | Continued Training | Youth Protection

Fast Start training remains essentially unchanged. It continues to provide an immediate comfort level for new leaders and enables them to say, "I can do this!" Fast Start training is the first step for any new volunteer and is to be delivered immediately after a new leader registers and before he or she meets with any youth member.

Cub Scout Leader Fast Start

Cub Scout Leader Fast Start (No. AV-01V022) is a package of position-specific video programs accompanied by a Cub Scout Leader Fast Start Viewer Guide (No. AV-01G022). Each program gives leaders information on planning and conducting their first meeting, and even demonstrates one they can use. Five segments are included in the video:

Pack-administered self-study is the primary method of delivery for Fast Start training. A pack trainer usually supports the new leader during this training period.

The Venturing Fast Start (No. AV-03V013) illustrates how using the program planning process can get Venturing programs off to a successful start. It provides information about training youth officers and is designed to be produced locally to orient new crew Advisors.
