Distinguished Citizens Celebration
This Year we Honored
Edward M. Downer III
Chairman of the Board, Mechanics Bank

Our Distinguished Citizen event recognizes individuals in our council who exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their everyday lives, not only in Scouting, but in the community as whole.
Honorees are:
- Positive role models whom scouts can look up to and emulate.
- Living examples of scouting goals: character development, citizenship, leadership and physical fitness…Underscoring for scouts that the training they receive works and is worth the effort.
- Regular contributors to society in action, word, deed, resources, service. Often, “sung” as well as “unsung” heroes and heroines.
- Role models who underscore what is Right About America: generous nature, genius for encouraging ordinary people to do extraordinary things and helping to guide them along the way.
- People not necessarily involved in Scouting but who have a “heart for Scouting."
