July 18, 2010 Jamboree Tour, Jamboree starts July 26, 2010.

Pre-Jamboree Tour:
The Mt. Diablo Silverado Council troops will start with a tour of historic and important East coast sites. The tour is likely to include:

The Jamboree:
Daily activities include archery, scuba, buckskin games, sailing, kayaking, swimming, bikeathlon, confidence course, canoeing, fishing, rafting, snorkeling, trap shooting, fishing, motocross, pioneering, conservation programs, rappelling towers, 5K run, orienteering, athletic contests and much more.
You can visit over 100 booths at the world's largest Merit Badge Midway where every possible merit badge will be represented. Spend some time visiting an authentic American Indian village or the re-creation of Brownsea Island, first Boy Scout camp ever. Check out the always popular Army Adventure Area, the Disability Awareness Trail, or Scoutopia. Spectacular arena shows and daily stage shows will also keep you entertained. Patch trading and souvenir collecting are other traditional Jamboree activities.

Where:
The Jamboree will be held at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, as it has for every Jamboree since 1981. Fort A.P. Hill is less than an hour's drive south of Washington D.C. The Boy Scouts of America uses almost 12,000 acres of the U.S. Army facility to accommodate nearly 40,000 Scouts and adults.

When:
The Mt. Diablo Silverado Council contingent will fly out of Oakland on July 18, spend 5 full days touring the East Coast, then attend the Jamboree from Monday, July 26 through Wednesday, August 5, 2008. We will return to Oakland immediately after the Jamboree.

Who:
Boy Scouts and Varsity Scouts must be at least First Class Scouts. They must have completed the sixth grade or be at least 12 years of age by July 1, 2010, but not have reached their 18th birthday by July 27, 2010.

Equipment:
Troop and Patrol gear is included in the Jamboree package. Scouts will only need to pack their own sleeping bag, clothes (including uniform), and personal toiletries.

Travel Plans              
The Mt. Diablo Silverado Council jamboree contingent will leave Oakland on July 18, 2010 and fly to Washington, D.C.  We will travel to Colonial Williamsburg and other points of historicinterest.

While in Washington, D.C., ample time will be allowed to tour the Smithsonian Institution, the White House, and many more of the Federal offices, such as the FBI and the Capitol.  We will camp at the jamboree until the morning of August 4, 2010.  On August 5 2010 we will return to Washington, D.C., for the return flight to Oakland.

Organization              
The jamboree is open to all who are qualified on a first-come basis. After our troops have been filled, a stand-by list of alternates will be established.  Scouts will be assigned to a jamboree troop consisting of 36 Scouts and four adult leaders.  You will be a member of a patrol within the troop.  The council contingent will consist of 3 troops.

The total cost for both youth and/or youth is $3800.

Fee Includes              
The jamboree fee covers all transportation, tours, admission fees, meals, lodging, and patrol and troop equipment, as well as insurance.  Your fee also covers the training camp before the jamboree.  The only additional expense will be your personal equipment, uniforms, and spending money.

Refund Policy
If you sign up for the jamboree and then find that you cannot attend, you will receive a full refund from the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council only if there is an alternate to take your place.
