Resources

There are many different forms available for your use on this website. The available forms and resources fall into the following categories:

Annual Health and Medical Form

The Health and Safety Committee of the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America took on the challenge to establish one annual Health and Medical Record for all ages and known risks. The San Francisco Bay Area Council made additional changes to meet Californai laws regarding treatment of minors and use of firearms.

Some of the key changes in the form are:
For activities lasting less than 72 hours. For activities lasting longer than 72 hours a medical evaluation is now required annually. For high-adventure activities for which medical care may be delayed restrictions based on height-weight ratios are now mandatory.

Begin using the new form immediately. It is mandatory for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree.

The electronic version of the form is intended to be filled out and saved by individual Scouts and Scouters. Districts and the Council are discouraged to keep medical records unless required by local and state ordinances.

There is no longer a difference in the exam based on age. The new form is for everyone.
The new form will need to be updated annually.

My Scouting

"My Scouting" provides access to the following resources:

Electronic Tour Permits - The new Tour Permits tool uses four simple steps to guide volunteers through the process of applying for a tour permit for a local or national trip. This "Smart" system remembers driver and training information, so it's easy to recall for subsequent permits. A council administrator approves or returns the application from MyBSA, and it's all saved in an electronic repository for easy retrieval. This means no more paperwork and 24/7 availablility.

Scouting Community - Scouting Community is perhaps the most useful tool ever rolled out to Scouting Professionals and volunteers. Using tools familiar to visitors of social networks like Facebook and MySpace, Scouting Community finally gives us the ability to communicate online. It allows volunteers, youth and Professionals to communicate in a secure online envirom=nment. Scouting Community is open to members 14 years and odler with a valid BSA ID. Users can post blog entries, join vitual groups, follow online discussions on any topic and even share photos and documents with other community members.

Online Tracking of Commissioner Visits - Unit Visit Tracking is now available to Unit Commissioners through MyScouting. Units Commissioners can go online to track visits to their units. and District Commissioners can view that information online as well. Commissioners can set up reminders and store visit details, including the type of visit and the number of youth and adults in attendance. Reports are available to the Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner and the Assistant District Commissioners for the units in their service area.

E-Learning - The E-Learning Course Management System provides a selection of courses for adult volunteers that may be taken for credit. E-learning will be integrated into each member's account.

Rechartering - Internet Rechartering is a Web-based system for annual unit renewal. It is available to Traditional units in councils which have licensed to use the system. You may check your council's Web site to learn if Internet Rechartering is available to your unit and to review instructions about how to log in and when to submit a unit renewal for the next charter year. If you are interested in learning more about this system, there is an interactive Tutorial and online Help which you may review. If you do not want to see the Rechartering menu selection, please go to My Profile, uncheck the Rechartering box and click Submit. It may be added again by returning to My Profile and checking the box and clicking Submit.
