Training

Trained leaders provide a quality, fun-filled program for units. When leaders understand Scouting, they are more effective in their roles.

Adult Leader Training

Adult Basic Leader Training is comprised of two parts: This is Scouting for all unit-level leaders and Leader Specific Training, which is based on the leader's unit-level position. Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters and Varsity Scout Leaders must also complete Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills before they are considered trained for their position.

Leave No Trace Trainer

Date: 
05/19/2012 (All day) - 05/20/2012 (All day)

Completion of this 16 hour (weekend) Leave No Trace Trainer (LNT) Course qualifies Scouts (age 14 and up) and Scouters to conduct Leave No Trace Awareness workshops. This training is required for youth who hold the new LNT Trainer position in their Troop.

LNT Master Educator Course

Date: 
08/05/2012 (All day) - 08/11/2012 (All day)

The LNT Master Educator Course will take place on Aug 5-11, 2012 at Camp Wolfeboro. Registration for the course will be coming soon.

Participants should be registered Scouters at least age 18 by August 5, 2012, and should have completed an LNT Trainer course and have a working knowledge of the principles of Leave No Trace.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

The training of youth leaders in scouting is important to promote the growth of the individual youth and a leadership model for the Boy Scout/Varsity/Venture (unit) program. The unit leader is the primary source of youth leader training.  As a supplement to that training, the National Youth Leader Training Conference provides youth with a one-week/two-weekend-long experience – a month in the life of a model unit - designed to give potential youth leaders the skills they can use to help their units. Weather Hazard Training

Weather conditions — good, bad, and ugly — are an important factor in any outdoor Scouting activity. The BSA has developed an online "Weather Hazard" training for all Scout leaders. Completion of this training is required for a minimum of one adult for all Scout outings as of January 1, 2009.

Youth Protection

Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our youth members and participants. To help protect our young people, we are pleased to offer Youth Protection Training. This training is one part of a comprehensive youth protection training program that formally began in 1988. It is designed to help prevent child abuse in all of its forms, whether verbal, emotional, physical or sexual abuse or neglect.
