Leave No Trace Trainer

Completion of this 16 hour (weekend) Leave No Trace Trainer (LNT) Course qualifies Scouts (age 14 and up) and Scouters to conduct Leave No Trace Awareness workshops. This training is required for youth who hold the new LNT Trainer position in their Troop.

 

Participants are expected to:

  • Bring their own meals (Saturday bag lunch, Saturday backpack dinner and Sunday backpack breakfast) - prepare as for a backpacking trip, including cooking gear (stove, plate, cup and animal proofing).
  • Bring their own camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, backpack, personal gear and ten essentials).
  • Bring signed LNT release form, downloaded fromhttp://donate.lnt.org/sites/default/files/CourseRelease.pdf (note: youth under 18 must also have a parental signature).
  • Bring a current health and release form (Parts A, B, and C must be completed).  Use the newest form which can be downloaded fromhttp://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/whole.pdf .
  • Prepare a 10 minute presentation on one of the 7 principles of Leave No Trace. Hint: go to http://donate.lnt.org/learn/7-principles  for the principles and details.
  • Have a great weekend experince learning about Leave No Trace principles and techniques for sharing them.

Spring 2012 LNT Trainer course will be held May 19-20,2012 at Skyline Wilderness Park in Napa, CA.  (Course is filled).

 

Fall 2012 LNT Trainer course will be held September 29-30, 2012 at Briones Regional Park in Contra Costa County.  Cost $30 through September 14; $35 from September 15 - 29 (or until class is filled). 

 

2013 LNT Trainer courses are tentatively scheduled for May 18-19, 2013 and October 5-6, 2013.
