National Youth Leader Training
The training of Troop youth leaders is important in the growth of the individual Scout and Troop. The Scoutmaster is the primary source of Youth Leader Training, but as a supplement to that training the National Youth Leader Training Conference provides youth with a week-long experience designed to give potential youth leaders skills they can use to help their Troops. The objectives of the conference are:
- To give participants the confidence and knowledge to run the troop program.
- To give participants a basic knowledge of the eleven skills of leadership and help them relate these skills to their troop responsibilities.
- To give participants the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with Scouts from other troops.
- To create an atmosphere where Scouts will experience Scouting at its best.
- To enhance the relationship between the participant and his Scoutmaster.
- To have fun.
Mt. Diablo Silverado Council is pleased to offer three National Youth Leader Training Conferences in 2008. Scouts will learn the same valuable skills no matter which of the courses they attend. We hope you will take advantage of one of these wonderful opportunities.
